Chief Justice of India
Chief Justice of India is appointed by the President of India under Article 124 of the constitution of India.The President of India after consultation with the Chief Justice and other judges of the Supreme Court shall appoint judges and in case of Chief Justice the senior most judges is appointed as the Chief Justice,this is based on a well established convention.Present CJI of India will retire in the second week of November,and he recommended that Sanjiv Khanna,next senior most judges be appointed as CJI after his retirement.
