Syrian Crisis
Syria is located in West Asia, an ancient country where once Romans, Umaidd Khalifa, Ottoman and lately France have established their supremacy is now the main focus of attention for all wrong reasons. Syria had been under the brutal rule of Assad dynasty since 1971 , first Syria was ruled by Hafez Assad, who engineered a coup in 1971,known as the third coup to become the dictator of Syria until his death in 2000,and his son Basher Assad succeeded in the same year. The Constitution of Syria was amended to reduce the minimum age from 40to 24.So before his death Hafez did everything to continue his family's rule in Syria. Hafez Assad was a General and came from a Alwite Shia family. Hafez was a ruthless dictator and in order to consolidate his holds in Syria he forged an alliance with USSR and also joined the anti Israeli 🇮🇱axis of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq 🇮🇶 and other Arab states. In 1973 Yom Kippur war with Israel, Syria lost more territories of Golan height. And again in 1982 During the Israeli invasion of 🇱🇧 Lebanon, Syrian 🇸🇾 airforce suffered another heavy losses. Hafez ordered the Homs massacre in 1982,that tragic event was a anti Sunni massacre. Basher Assad no less ruthless and bloodthirsty than his father, he also killed several lakhs Syrians since 2013,when a bloody civil war erupted between various rebel groups backed by western countries and Turkey with Free Syrian armies and loyal soldiers of Assad and it resulted death of several lakhs Syrians. Assad used chemical weapons against his opponents and several million Syrians left their homes to take shelter in neighbouring states. Assad was backed by Russia🇷🇺 and 🇮🇷 Iran. When it seemed that Assad regime was to collapse, Russians sent military hardwares, advisers and other logistics to continue the fratricidal war and Iranian 🇮🇷 backed Hezbollah fighters from Lebanon 🇱🇧 arrived to Syria to fight the anti Assad forces. So Assad position again strengthened as a result of such active support, and he continued his reign of terror in Syria. But the Russian🇷🇺 invasion of Ukrain in February 2022 and Iranian🇮🇷 unnecessary involvement in war against Israel 🇮🇱 led his such a stunning departure from Syria. Russian are now fighting a desperate war with western supported Ukrain and Iran is also attacked by Israel. So Russia 🇷🇺 and Iran 🇮🇷 inability to help him when it was needed badly led to his such dramatic fleeing from Syria 🇸🇾. Now Syrian people have got a big reprieve from his terror, but danger of bloodshed is still lurking in horizon. The rebel groups are fanatics and consisted of several groups and have no ideas about democracy, moreover Syria is ethnically diverse, Syria might plunge into another civil war because there are many major geopolitical powers who have their own interests in Syria.
